What Are Grown Up
Girlfriends saying about Graduation Party Plans?
Hey, why re-invent the wheel when other Grown Up Girlfriends have
planned before us? Let’s hear what a few have done to ease the
process…
The Food
Don’t try to do the BBQ thing. You will
spend the whole day over the grill and not enjoy the party. Do it
all in advance! I grilled Chicken, Pork Tenderloin, Beef
Tenderloin in advance and made gourmet sandwiches on baguettes as
the main dish, served it with salads and grilled vegetables that we
did in advance and then served at room temperature along with a
variety of other snacks, etc. J.D.
Keep it simple so that you have time to
entertain and enjoy as much as possible. Cater if you can and if
you can’t try to at least partial cater so that you don’t have to
work so hard! I did pulled pork and other simple dishes that I
could cook in advance and have waiting in crock pots the day of our
party. P.M.
We hosted a brunch for our graduation
party. It was great…it allowed people to comfortably fit in more
than one party in a day. It made the food simple and it helped to
avoid the alcohol and teen issue! A.R.
Don’t worry about what people like;
meaning steer away from traditions. We added some unique foods,
including Japanese cuisine, and people loved it and still remember
the difference in foods today. A.S.
Special Touches
I served the salads in (new) sand pails
that matched my children’s school colors. To keep the salads cold I
bought a children’s pool, filled it with ice and then covered the
entire thing with a table cloth that matched the school color
theme. It kept everything cold, but festive. I also pre-wrapped
the gourmet sandwiches we served with white deli paper, wrapped them
with matching raffia and pre-labeled what the sandwiches were for
the guests. J.D.
We added a theme to put a twist on the
graduation party. We hosted a luau for guests and decorated to
match. We handed out leis to our guests…it was fun! P.M.
I created special photo albums that I had
on display that was filled with awards, certificates and photo’s
throughout the years. Guests really enjoyed looking through them;
both young and old. My daughter’s friends enjoyed seeing her too!
S.M.
I considered entertainment activities for
all ages and was ready for rain or shine. Thankfully we had a great
day and everyone took advantage of your yard with volleyball, horse
shoes, bean bag toss and since we didn’t have a pool, we bought and
put up an inflatable water slide for the kids. We also had a
bonfire at the end of the evening. A.S.
