Sitting
Have you made your summer travel plans yet? Do you have a pet and
you aren’t quite certain what you are going to do? Have you thought
about a professional pet sitter as a solution? Well, here are a few
thoughts as you are finalizing your summer plans along with some
tips to consider in case a professional pet sitter might be a
solution for your pet sitting needs.
1)
What does a Professional Pet Sitter do?
Professional pet sitters provide in home service to your pet(s).
They are hired on a per visit basis and visits can range from 30
minutes up to an hour depending on your budget and needs. Pet
sitters, not only watch your pets, but often make your home looked
lived in by rotating lights, bringing in your mail and newspaper,
watering your plants and opening and shutting blinds or curtains at
your request. In addition, your furry companions are walked, get
one on one attention, while their living and eating areas are kept
clean. They are able to sleep in their own beds, walk in their own
neighborhoods and have their owner’s smells all around them.
2)
Why is Pet Sitting a better alternative than taking your pet to a
kennel?
Animals are under much less stress when they are able to stay in the
comfort of their own home. They are not kept awake by constant
barking, nor do they have access to potential illnesses which can
exist in a kennel environment. When you hirer a pet sitter, you
know who will be caring for your pet, where as, at the kennel, there
could be many different employees coming in at different times.
When your pet is home, they have an entire house to relax in, versus
a small kennel or cage and are able to keep their regular schedule.
3)
Why not use a neighbor or friend?
A
Professional Pet Sitter is Bonded and has Liability Insurance; if
anything should happen while your animals are in the care of a
professional pet sitter there would be insurance to cover it. For
instance, a Pet Sitter in Dallas, TX had a cat client who hired her
for the week. Last minute, a neighbor said they could care for this
woman's cat while she was away, so the client cancelled with the Pet
Sitter. While the client was gone, the neighbor saw a cat outside
and thought it was the client's cat. She put the cat in the house
and when the client came home their entire home had been destroyed.
The cat the neighbor put in the house was a stray cat, NOT their own
cat. The client had to pay for the damage repairs out of pocket
because the neighbor did not have insurance.
4)
How do we find a Professional Pet Sitter?
If
you live in the Clifton Park/Halfmoon/Mechanicville area and other
areas throughout the capital region, contact Auntie Marta's Pet
Sitting Services, LLC. For those that live outside of the Capial
Region of NY, they may visit Pet Sitters International at
www.petsit.com and type in their zip code to receive a list of
professional pet sitters that service their area. Each business
listed on this site is individually owned and may not all have
bonding insurance, they all WILL have liability insurance. You
should always ask for references, and for proof of insurance
coverage.
