What Are Grown Up
Girlfriends saying about juggling the Summer with the kids home?
Okay, it’s no secret. I
have three children ages 15, 10 and 5. Let’s face it, scheduling
the summer activities can be just as challenging as getting through
the school year calendar of jammed packed activities and for me,
working from home and juggling the kids can add a whole new element
of CRAZE to my life. I love them, but the summer juggle can be
either easy or a whole new episode of comical/horror depending on
the given moment. It’s not easy with the age span of keeping
everyone happy, what are you doing this summer with the kids?
I have 2 boys and one is
a teenager. I’m making sure the schedule keeps them away from the
TV 24 hours a day. I found a job for my oldest and have my younger
one in a variety of camps, visiting grandparents and of course
family vacation in the mix. It’s hard being a working mom and
keeping the kids busy too! P.M.
I’m working towards just
the right mix of keeping a schedule and yet allowing for downtime.
It’s not easy with the age span in my household either. I have a
college student, high school student and middle school aged child.
My older two are working and my younger is doing a mix of camps and
time with friends. I still have to worry about the older ones too!
A.S.
I’m a single mom for the
first time this summer and have just started back to work so this is
a first for our household as I was a stay-at-home mom before this.
I’m not looking forward to the shuffle I now have to do with
everyone, but am still trying to fit in some good old fashioned
summer fun at the community pool, day camps, etc. K.R.
I’m planning some down
time. We’ve just come off an incredibly hectic school year and my
kids don’t want to go to any camps this year. We’re planning trips
to the library, local museums, time with friends and swimming. I’m
looking forward to not necessarily being the daily taxi! C.P.
I’m surviving the summer schedule by planning fun with my friends
with ladies nights out at least twice a month. We are planning
different things each time we get together. It’s our summer play
time! T.M.
